Understanding Waterfy Me’s Purified Water
What is the 12-step Waterfy Me process to create Pure. Liquid. Satisfaction.
The Waterfy Me products are far superior to spring and mineral waters because of our custom-engineered system of water purification. This unique system incorporates twelve steps to ensure DrinkMore Water’s absolute purity.
Complexity starts with simplicity using a pleated-paper sediment filter to trap large particles like dirt, sand, slime, and grit. Don’t be nervous about the size, our filters for sediment filtration and the cartridges are rated 10 microns where the human eye can only see particles of 20 microns or larger. We start purification by getting the larger out so we can use more sensitive equipment property down the line.
The purification next step is ion exchange where we remove various metallic elements. Sometimes referred to as water “softening,” water passes through the ion exchange resin, metallic ions, which carry a strong positive charge, displace the more weakly charged sodium and potassium ions. The metallic ions are thus trapped via electromagnetic attraction to the resin particles. The ion exchange beds are then automatically cleansed and regenerated at prescribed intervals based on water volume. Ion exchange is highly useful for removing metals for pipe scaling and deposits. The process also removes various heavy metals, such as lead, mercury, iron, and cadmium, which have been associated with well-publicized health concerns.
Activated Carbon Towers
After the ion exchange process that water moves into over-sized granular activated carbon beds. Carbon filtration (also known as charcoal filtration), utilizing a process known as adsorption, is a particularly useful technique for chlorine removal. At this stage, we remove pesticides, herbicides, and other organic contaminants. Carbon does an excellent job of eliminating carcinogens that have caused concern in local water supplies. Similar to “granular activated carbon” seen in many home filter systems, this is used to mainly remove the chlorine taste found in tap water but are often poorly maintained and neglected. Waterfy Me routinely backwashes our carbon filters and carbon replaced annually. All maintenance and replacements are regularly scheduled and completed by in-house engineers.
At this step, water passes through a special chamber housing a large ultraviolet light source that acts as a robust sterilizing agent. It will eliminate any bacteria, viruses or other contaminants present and destroys any reproduction or proliferation. We monitor the UV lamp regularly and change when needed to maintain it’s intensity in this process.
One Micron Pre-Filter
After the ultraviolet light, our water passes through another set of clean filters registering at a 1-micron pore size. Therefore, anything killed by the ultraviolet light will be picked up by these filters.
Reverse Osmosis (Two-pass process)
The centerpiece of our purification system is the reverse osmosis technology. In this two-pass step, high pressure is used to force water across a membrane while impurities are left behind. In other words, the high pressure causes the contaminants to become more concentrated on one side of the layer. Only pure water can cross the membrane; even the dissolved impurities which cannot be removed by conventional filtration are captured and eliminated by Waterfy Me’s reverse osmosis purification system.
Ozonation is the most crucial part of our chemical-free disinfection relying on oxygen to ensure our purified water remains free of any microbiological contamination. The process uses necessary molecular oxygen (O2) which is exposed to a high electrical charge. This forces the molecule to split and recombine in a higher form called ozone (O3). This is circulated through the purified water and is 100% sanitary and bacteria free.
Ultraviolet Light II
Another essential part of the process is the purified water ultraviolet light pass through before it reaches the stainless steel water tanks. Similar to the ultraviolet process previously stated, but just as important on the road to producing Waterfy Me’s – Pure. Liquid. Satisfaction.
Fact; ozone is about 1,500 times more effective than chlorine as an oxidant. It serves as a powerful disinfectant and is helpful in oxidizing an extensive range of contaminants. One is cryptosporidium that is utterly invulnerable to chlorination. Tests show that ozone will destroy 99.99% of cryptosporidium within only five minutes of contact time. Ozone is not a stable state for oxygen, and over the course of a few minutes, it returns to its natural O2 state. Simple and extremely powerful, this state-of-the-art disinfection system takes place in our finished storage tanks.
Storage, Ozonation & Recirculation
Following all those steps to purification, the water then moves into the storage and recirculation segment. Designed so that Waterfy Me purified water will retain its exceptionally high purity and will not contact any other materials or substances our internal storage system is made entirely of stainless steel. This stainless steel structure eliminates the problem of potential interactions with other substances. Waterfy Me also implements a recirculation loop, so the water doesn’t sit post purification and even adds additional ozone periodically to maintain the sterility of our water. We sample the storage tanks regularly and track our sensors to control different variables.
Finally, the water is drawn directly from the continuous recirculation loop and fed to our bottling system. Similar to our internal storage system, water dispensers utilize stainless steel for all water contact surfaces.
Understanding The Water Difference
Why can’t I just drink water from the tap?
You can and if you enjoy local tap water, then maybe purified water isn’t right for you. Local tap water has to meet federally mandated guidelines to be classified as drinkable water. Yet, it still contains many impurities – like chlorine – often added, but its taste isn’t often enjoyed.
Tap water is a significant service provided to the community. We fight fires with it, flush toilets, keep lawns green and clothes clean. The problem is local authorities expect every single gallon of tap water must meet minimum standards. They don’t know if you’re going to drink it or flush it, but every gallon must meet the same standards, but we only drink ½ of a percent that is produced. 70% of your body is comprised of water, and it is vital to your quality of life – let’s drink the purest Waterfy Me – and not what you may be feeding the lawn.
Why consume Waterfy Me over spring water?
One of the most straightforward questions to answer – it’s entirely healthier for you. All the impurities found in spring and tap water, are removed in our purification process. The final product is fresh and pure H2O every single sip. Spring water quality fluctuates due to the aquifers which they emanate are continually changing.
How many spring water brand commercials have you seen? Ever hear them talk about purity? The word “natural” might sound good, but the river, stream, or pond by your home or business is natural, but I doubt you’d drink from it. Even the Adirondack Mountains receive tremendous amounts of acid rain and other contaminants. The geology of the area can help filter out some of those contaminants, but often adds others.
People often buy bottled water for the purity over tap water, that’s not always the case with spring water. Some spring waters don’t even meet tap water standards in the U.S. Compare bottle water analysis reports, and you’ll see we’re the purest you can find – every time.
Waterfy Me will always taste better than spring because we are pure. There are no variations in taste, and we guarantee that sip after sip will be the most purified water you can find.
What about home filter systems and the little filters you put on your faucet or put into a pitcher?
If you want to take only one step towards improving the quality of the water you drink, then maybe a portable filtration system is right for you. Warning though, the primary filter component found in most home filtration systems are carbon granules and they don’t entirely eliminate chlorine and other harmful elements. So if you remove the taste of smell, keep in mind that other impurities that are tasteless and odorless are still present. Understanding the importance of water to your well-being, it makes sense to choose the purest, high-quality water – Waterfy Me.
Do I need minerals in my water?
There are inorganic and organic substances found on earth. Inorganic is rocks and similar matter found in multiple layers compared to organic matter found in plants and animals. Minerals are inorganic substances and are often defined as “good” and “not as good”. Good minerals might include calcium, magnesium, and potassium. But minerals not as good for the body might consist of lead, arsenic, antimony, aluminum, and barium.
Is lead in tap water a problem?
Lead in tap water continues to be a huge health problem, nationally and in the DC, Washington, Virginia area. Lead, and even other heavier metals do not promptly leave the body once consumed. You should address any thoughts of lead in your water immediately. Keep in mind that water moving from a treatment plant doesn’t have lead in it, but our lead pipes and connectors used to flow to your home may. That’s where the problems begin, and that’s a lot of pipes to reach and change.
Here are some more recent articles in this area dealing with lead concerns: https://wtop.com/montgomery-county/2018/06/drinking-water-exceeds-lead-limits-at-63-montgomery-co-schools/ ; http://www.sciencemag.org/news/2018/02/millions-americans-drink-potentially-unsafe-tap-water-how-does-your-county-stack. Avoid the problems and drink Waterfy Me bottled water.
Does your water have fluoride in it?
Before we answer that, let’s address the mixed opinion on the importance of fluoride in water. Some consumers believe that fluoride is vital to water, while others think that it’s so toxic that it will kill you. The FDA understands that too much is wrong and has set maximum fluoride containment levels for all bottled water products.
Fact; fluoride is a prescription drug that isn’t accessible. Fact2; fluoride in toothpaste has dropped by more than 85% over the last fifteen years. There are lots of mixed reviews on fluoride, so do your research and draw your conclusion.
Fluoride has a terrible taste and the only reason you don’t taste it at times in tap water is due to the other impurities masking its awful taste. Waterfy Me does not have fluoride, and therefore we maintain our pure taste as promised.
How do we ensure the Pure Liquid Satisfaction of Waterfy Me Water?
The location for purification and bottling is regularly FDA inspected, examined by the Maryland Department of Health and Hygiene, and the Montgomery County, MD Health Department. The facility is IBWA certified and inspected by the NSF International.
As initially stated, the purification and manufacturing process produces the purest water by reducing contaminants along the process. Technology fills the facility will multiple sensors and monitors throughout the system eliminating any possible substandard water.
How safe is the plastic in your 3 and 5-gallon bottles?
All bottled water delivered to the home and business are packaged in returnable BPA-free, polycarbonate containers that are washed, sanitized and rinsed after every use. They are the absolute highest quality bottles you can find within the bottled water industry.
Plastic leaking into your water is much more difficult in harder plastics like polycarbonate over HDPE, therefore have a much lower rate overall. Polycarbonate plastic leak rates are far below any set of government guidelines.
Do your bottles have built-in handles?
We use nothing but bottles with built-in handles to give our customers the most comfortable experience in lifting bottles and filling coolers. We’ve found that they are merely the best and most convenient for all of our customers. Handled bottles help your back, but also reduce bacteria buildup around the bottleneck form too many delivery hands touching the bottle. Overall, it’s the safest way to go, and we’re sure you’ll enjoy it.
